Description:
Tylosin is a macrolide bacteriostatic antibiotic used for treatment of gastrointestinal and respiratory infections in calves, chickens and turkeys.


Indication:
ASHTYL 99% is indicated in all conditions associated with bacteria sensitive to Tylosin.
This includes organisms in the following genera: -
Streptococcus, Bacillus, Staphylococcus, Corynebacterium, Clostridium, Erysipelothrix, Spirochaetes, Fusiformis, Chlamydia, Mycoplasma, Pasturella and Campylobacter.


Calves:
ASHTYL 99% is used for the prevention and treatment of bovine pneumonia and calf scours.


Chickens and Turkeys:
ASHTYL 99% is used for the treatment of CRD (Chronic Respiratory Disease) and for the control of gastrointestinal infection including necrotic enteritis. Also it is helpful in treating stress associated with vaccination, extreme change in weather etc.


Contraindications:
Not to be used in animals hypersensitive to Tylosin or other macrolide antibiotics (e.g. erythromycin). Do not use ASHTYL 99% in layers producing eggs for human consumption.


Mode of action:
Tylosin inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by inhibiting ribosomes; a cellular structure used to make internal proteins


Dosage & Administration:
Chickens and Turkeys: 0.5 g of tylosin (0.5 g of ASHTYL 99%) per liter through drinking water.
Calves: 0.5 g to1g tylosin activity per calf administered orally twice daily for 7-14 days.
The product may be given in the milk or milk replacer.
Pig: 3-6 mg tylosin activity per kg body weight or 100 g tylosin activity per ton of feed.


Side Effects:
Tylosin may elevate certain liver blood tests (ALT and AST); a false impression of disease may be created.


Precaution:
Do not use the same solution for more than three days.
Do not leave or dispose of water containing Tylosin where it may be accessible to animals not under treatment or wildlife.


Withdrawal Period:
Animals must not be slaughtered for human consumption during treatment. The withdrawal periods after the last treatment are as follows:
Calves: Meat : 14 days
Broiler Chickens : 1 day
Turkeys : Nil


Overdose:
ASHTYL 99% is relatively safe and overdose is not practical concern


Storage:
Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light
