Gentamicin Sulphate B.P.

Methyl Hydroxybenzoate B.P. .......................... 0.18% w/v
Propyl Hydroxybenzoate B.P............................. 0.02% w/v

Description:
Gentamicin sulfate is a broad spectrum antibiotic belonging to aminoglycoside compound. It inhibits the growth of a wide variety of Gram-positive and Gramnegative microorganisms, including strains of Pseudomonas, Proteus, Staphylococcus, and Streptococcus. Gentamicin sulfate inhibits bacterial protein
biosynthesis by binding to the 30S subunit of the ribosome. Bacteriology: Gentamicin is active against the following bacteria Gram-Positive Bacteria: Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp. and Corynebacterium spp. Gram-Negative Bacteria: Citrobacter species, Enterobacter species, Escherichia coli,
Klebsiella spp., Proteus spp.,Serratia spp. and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.


Indications:
Infections of gastrointestinal tract, respiratory tract, arthritis, poly-arthritis, meningitis, mastitis & metritis caused by Gentamicin sensitive organisms.


Dosage & Administration:
For intramuscular(IM), subcutaneous (SQ)& slow intravenous (IV) use only.
Cattle, Sheep & Goat:
5-6 mg of gentamicin per kg body weight as single daily dose (SID) for 3-5 days OR 1ml per 20 kg body weight.
Dogs:
9-14 mg of gentamicin per kg body weight as single daily dose (SID) for 3-5 days OR 1ml per 10 kg body weight.
Horse:

6.6 mg of gentamicin per kg body weight as single daily dose (SID) for 3-5 days consecutively OR 1ml per 15 kg body weight.
For intrauterine (IU) infusion (Mares): 20-25 ml of injection can be diluted with 200-500 ml of physiological saline daily for 3-5 days during estrus.


Contraindications:
ASHIGEN 10% is contraindicated in individual hypersensitivity to Gentamicin and also in animals with a known impaired liver and / or renal function.
Concurrent administration with nephrotoxic substances is contraindicated.


Target Species:
Cattle, Horse, Sheep & Goat, Dogs


Warning:
The maximum number of pricks should not exceed 10. 
Not approved for food producing animals.


Side Effects:
High and prolonged application may result in neurotoxicity, ototoxicity or nephrotoxicity.


Withdrawal Period:
Meat : 7 days
Milk : 3 days

Store below 30°C in a dry place, protect from direct sunlight.
