Pharmacological Properties:
Diminazene belongs to the diamidines family and exerts a good activity against blood parasites such as Trypanosoma and Babesia. After parenteral administration it is bound relatively quickly to living Trypanosomes. The bond is irreversible and the active ingredient is not released from its bond to the Trypanosomes. Within the parasite Diminazene penetrate the cell nucleus and is bound to the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA). Within a few hours the
trypanosomes are killed, after first losing their effectivity and then their motility. Antipyrine (Phenazone) will ensure a correct solubilisation and perfect stabilisation of the diminazene diaceturate, and also contributes to struggle against inflammation and fever. Vitamin B12 plays a key role in the haematopoiesis stimulation, and is therefore a very good anti-anaemic. These properties are used in the treatment of anaemia caused by trypanosomiasis. Vitamin B12 is also a growth promotor and helps in strengthening the immune system. Vitamin B6 is an essential element in the synthesis of haemoglobin. Its action jointly with vitamin B12 allows to struggle efficiently against anaemia in trypanosomosis.
